Recently, a certain movie has been associated with memes and jokes that satirically incorporate the image of the atomic bomb. What’s more, even the official accounts have shown a positive response to these representations. As someone who has been educated about the atomic bomb, I find it hard to comprehend this casual attitude towards such a serious matter. Honestly, it’s 2023, and the fact that this is still happening makes me feel there’s a vast difference in our perceptions. The reality that atomic bomb images are being used as pop icons is jarring. I was genuinely looking forward to the Barbie movie, so this situation deeply saddens me.
I believe nuclear weapons are outdated. Think about the instantaneous deaths of tens to hundreds of thousands, the radiation-induced cancers, congenital anomalies, and the contamination of land, water, and air. How would you feel if this happened in your loved one’s city? And now, imagine there are numerous such weapons around the world. It’s horrifying, right? Given these terrifying impacts, I firmly feel we must be well-informed about the damages and effects caused by nuclear weapons. Also, I’m promoting the message of peace through the “Peace Button Square” on my blog (https://sekreta-ludejo.com/peace-button/). It is a simple initiative that displays the total number of global clicks on the Peace Button. Please feel the presence of others who wish for peace and disarmament just like you. Especially with the Peace Button Square, since participation is as easy as a click, I hope many will join and click away!
As a creator with unique perspectives and approaches, I aim to envision a future distinct from war and weaponry. This isn’t just because I hail from a country that has experienced the atomic bomb but as an individual and creator opposing weapons and war. That’s the message I’m trying to send to the world. I’ve already touched upon peace and disarmament in my web comics. Moving forward, I’m determined to dive deeper into programming and produce enjoyable peace-themed games that break from the conventional mold. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
